A Greener Tomorrow for Coffee and Tea Drinkers Everywhere!

Posted by jane | | Posted on Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Hi Jane Fans and visitors!

We recently formed a licensing agreement with Mother Earth News to sell their premium line of Organic, Fair Trade, Shade grown coffee. It is an incredible product in flavor, and one that is friendly to our earth and its inhabitants. See the product offerings here: http://stores.cuppajane.com/-strse-template/motherearthnewsorganic/Page.bok

To get to my point, the new agreement brought our website a new type of customer: a customer that is more in tune with and sensitive to our environmental responsibilities. A very friendly, and outspoken Mother Earth customer, brought it to our attention that we were not living up to our responsibilities here at Cuppa Jane. She indicated that she could not support a company that sold foam cups and plastics so blatantly on our site.

So, instead of just blowing off these comments, I decided that in this case, the customer was right on the money. Why should we help market and sell products that are so harmful for our environment, when there are many available alternatives out there?

Effective this week, I removed our Solo white foam cups and lids from the site (they are the worst possible cup for the environment). We've left a few of the thin walled foam cups up just for the remainder of the year. This will allow those of you who use that particular product to fase them out of your pantry, and convert to something more eco-friendly. We will offer a paper line of cups very soon. We're looking into fully compostable cutlery and lids. However, we'd actually prefer that you purchase reusable cups and plates to eliminate the need for disposables all together!

If we all do what we can to promote a small footprint, we'll preserve our earth for many generations to come. If not, it could be a horrible picture for our descendents. At CuppaJane, we wish to continually evolve into a company that is more and more considerate of our fellow human beings and our environment.

Sincerely,

Cuppa Jane
